The need has arised in chennai where the people need to pile up food, fuel and medicine for a day as there will be one day bandh in Chennai. Violence against Tamils across the border has made the various organisation to call for a bandh to condemn the violence on Tamils.
Educational Institutions will stay open on the day of bandh though there may not be adequate transport facilities to reach the destination. There will be around 45,000 to 55,000 privately driven vans which will not run. Petrol Pumps in Chennai will remain shut including those in Pondicherry.
5,000 shops will remain closed in the Periyar Market of Koyambedu. The vegetables and fruits which would reach the Periyar Market from the adjacent states and districts has been asked not to bring the commodities into the city. Retail shops have piled up the vegetables inorder to sell on Thursday so that the public are not affected.
Hotels, Resorts, Recreational places will remain open on the day of bandh however the transportation will be difficult for the public to reach the desired location unless they own a vehicle.
